PROVIDENCE CHAPEL
A sustainable 'Grand Designs' award-winning extension in Wiltshire
This striking extension clad in stained Western Red Cedar was voted the Grand Designs ‘Extension of the Year’ in 2009. Its winning lines reflect the passion of a client committed to achieving something beautiful and striking. Greenheart supported his vision with both the design and careful construction needed for weather tight delivery.
A conventional timber frame sits on masonry walls, with timber I beams for floor and roof construction. Hunton Bitroc, with its good thermal insulation, and highly breathable Sarket were used to sheath the frame. Wind and water-tight, they deliver high levels of thermal efficiency. Recycled paper was used for additional insulation. The extension has high performance Aluminium windows and bespoke Douglas Fir shutters and doors.
